Professor Campbell is an international leader in the field of diabetes. Among his numerous honors, he was named the "Outstanding Health Care Educator in the Field of Diabetes in the U. S." by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in 1989, and the "Outstanding Pharmacy Administration Professor in the U.S." by the National Association of Retail Druggists in 1990. Also in 1990, the American Association of Diabetes Educators gave him its Distinguished Service Award. The ACCP honored him with the prestigious Paul Parker Medal in 2003. Keith has published more than 650 articles. He has trained approximately 1,500 pharmacist practitioners in diabetes care. He also serves on numerous editorial boards and reviews and edits over 30 papers each year. In the year 2008, he co-authored a book "Medications for the Treatment of Diabetes" published by the ADA. He is a Certified Diabetes Educator and represented the pharmacy profession as a member of the National Quality Forum. He was a founding member of the AADE. Professor Campbell was in the first group of Fellows named to both the APhA and ASHP; has been a member of the Board of Directors of both the American Diabetes Association and the American Association of Diabetes Educators. He has served as a consultant in endocrine medications for the FDA; and he co-developed an ambulatory infusion pump called the CADD which became one of the most used ambulatory infusion pumps in the world. Keith has had diabetes for over 62 years.
