Socks/Hosiery/Compression

Diabetic socks and hosiery can be the first layer of protection against infection, abrasions and even small irritations that can lead the diabetic with insensitive feet to serious foot problems, such as skin and tissue damage resulting in restricted movement. Compression bandages or wraps are used for management of venous stasis and venous ulcers. They are applied to a limb to achieve graduated compression. Physician order should specify level of compression and they should always be applied according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
